What does it makes a route historic?
This is the first question I asked myself to choose which line to tell.
The numbers? The grade – yes, certainly it’s relevant -, the year in which it was bolted, the number of people who managed to climb it.
Meaning? Like a meaning that is attributed to the mere fact of having climbed that line: it means being strong, talented, courageous, humble or arrogant or who knows what else.
A high-sounding name? Well, sometimes the names are full of value and a little bit tell the story behind it (…)

Ho scritto su UP Climbing – l’annuario d’alpinismo europeo – su una via storica nella scena romana: La Morte. Ripercorrendo la storia del suo apritore e dei primi a salirla ci si immerge completamente nell’arrampicata anni ’80.
Cos’è che rende un tiro storico?
È la prima domanda che mi sono posta per scegliere di quale linea raccontare.
I numeri? Il Grado – sì , sicuramente è rilevante -, l’anno in cui è stata chiodata, il numero delle persone che sono riuscite nell’impresa di salirla.
Un significato? Che ne so, un significato che si attribuisce al sol fatto di aver salito quella linea: significa essere forti, talentuosi, coraggiosi, umili o arroganti o chissà cos’altro.
Un nome altisonante? Beh, a volte i nomi sono densi di valore e un po’ raccontano la storia che ci sta dietro (…)
